National Waffle Week: Celebrating a Classic with a Shear Taste Twist
September 7–13, 2026 | Shear Taste — Midwest Roots • Global Flavors
There’s something about a freshly made waffle that brings people together. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and ready for everything from maple syrup to fried chicken, waffles are one of those foods that can transform any meal into an experience.
This National Waffle Week, Shear Taste is celebrating the waffle in true Midwest style—with creativity, comfort, community, and flavors inspired by around the world.
What Is National Waffle Week?
National Waffle Week is an annual celebration dedicated to one of the world's most recognizable comfort foods. Celebrated during the first full week of September, it gives waffle lovers an opportunity to enjoy traditional favorites while exploring new ways to serve this versatile dish.
For 2026, we're celebrating September 7–13.
And we're taking waffles beyond breakfast.
Waffles Are More Than Breakfast
When most people think about waffles, they picture butter, maple syrup, fresh berries, and whipped cream.
But waffles can do so much more.
At Shear Taste, we see the waffle as a blank canvas for flavor. It can be sweet, savory, spicy, smoky, or even inspired by flavors from different cultures.
Here are a few combinations we'd love to put on the table:
🍗 Chicken & Waffles
A true comfort-food classic. Crispy fried chicken paired with a golden waffle, finished with maple syrup, honey butter, or a touch of hot honey.
🍑 Peach Cobbler Waffles
Imagine the flavors of a homemade peach cobbler transformed into brunch. Warm peaches, cinnamon, brown sugar, buttery crumble, and a fluffy waffle come together for a seriously satisfying dessert-style breakfast.
🍯 Hot Honey Chicken Waffles
Crispy chicken, golden waffles, and sweet heat. Hot honey adds the perfect balance of sweetness and spice.
🥓 Savory Breakfast Waffles
Who says waffles have to be sweet? Add eggs, cheese, crispy bacon or sausage, fresh herbs, and your favorite breakfast toppings for a hearty savory waffle.
🍓 Berry Cheesecake Waffles
Fresh berries, cheesecake cream, berry sauce, and a crisp golden waffle make this a perfect brunch or dessert option.
A Waffle Can Tell a Story
Food has a way of connecting cultures and generations.
Waffles themselves have a long history, with early versions appearing in Europe centuries ago. Different regions developed their own styles, ingredients, and techniques, eventually creating the many waffle varieties we enjoy today.
From Belgian waffles to American diner-style waffles and creative restaurant versions, the waffle continues to evolve.
That's what makes it so exciting.
At Shear Taste, our philosophy is simple:
Midwest Roots. Global Flavors.
We take familiar foods and look for opportunities to introduce new flavors, ingredients, and experiences.
Waffles and Community
Some of the best food memories don't happen in fancy restaurants.
They happen around the kitchen table.
It's the smell of waffles cooking on Sunday morning. It's everyone fighting over the first one out of the waffle iron. It's a family adding their favorite toppings. It's friends gathering for brunch and staying longer than expected because the conversation is just that good.
It always starts with community.
That's something we believe deeply at Shear Taste.
Food should bring people together.
